Our story

The trip that changed everything

In 2011 we visited friends in Yunnan. What was meant to be a trip became a turning point: mountain light over terraced fields, long conversations over bowls of noodles, and a feeling that travel had changed us rather than just informed us.

In 2012 we moved our young and growing family to Lijiang, the old town in Yunnan's Himalayan foothills along the Tea Horse Road. We learned the language, built a life, and earned the kind of trust that opens real doors: kitchens, courtyards, tea fields and mountain paths where everyday life happens.

We founded Harmony Bridge in 2013 to share that with travelers from the U.S. and Canada. When travel paused during the pandemic, Bobby completed an M.S. in International Sustainable Tourism through CATIE in Costa Rica and the University of North Texas, and we came back with deeper partnerships and a clearer purpose. A decade plus later, Harmony Bridge is still our family's way of bringing people together, one trip at a time.

What we do

Trips designed around you

We design private journeys and guaranteed departures in China for couples, families, friends and groups, and we partner with tour operators and travel advisors who want a trusted team on the ground. You contract with a U.S. company, Harmony Bridge USA, LLC. Licensed Chinese inbound tour operators provide the vehicles, hotels, guides and tickets, and our own bilingual team looks after you every day you travel.

**Bobby Robbins**Founder and Executive Director
Bobby has lived in Yunnan a decade plus. He holds an M.S. in International Sustainable Tourism and was *Asia Sustainable Travel*'s first ever Changemaker honoree from Mainland China. He designs every trip and is your contact from the first call to the last day.

**Vanessa Robbins**Tour Design and Customer Experience Director
Vanessa co-founded Harmony Bridge with Bobby. She shapes how each day of a trip feels, from the pace to the hotels, meals and small comforts, and looks after every traveler's experience.

Ni Zhao Hui (Nina) — **Ni Zhao Hui ("Nina")**Guide Training and Community Affairs Director
Nina trains our guides and works with the villages and community partners we visit, so every visit is welcome and fair. She is the bridge between our travelers and the people who host them.
