Who you'll travel with

We moved our family to Yunnan. Now we open the door for you.

Bobby and Vanessa started Harmony Bridge in 2013. They've spent a decade plus in Yunnan, where they raised all six of their kids. The friends we've made here are the people you'll meet: farmers, cooks, craftspeople, guides and professors who are proud to share their home.

You get the famous places, timed well and done properly. You also get the kitchens, courtyards and villages that only open up when people know you.

Why travel with us

What's different about a Harmony Bridge trip

Guaranteed, even for two

Pick a date and it runs. No waiting to hear whether enough strangers signed up.

Your group, on its own

Every departure books privately, so you travel with your own people, not a busload you've never met.

The right vehicle for your group

A private van for 2 to 5, a minibus for 6 to 15, a coach for 16 to 30. Comfortable seats and room to breathe.

Everything included, tips too

Hotels, meals, guides, entry fees, travel inside China and gratuities are in the price, so there are no surprises.

Guides who speak both languages

Licensed English-speaking guides, with our family behind them, so conversations go deeper than the script.

Your visit helps the places you see

We spend with family guesthouses, cooks, artisans and local guides, so the communities you meet share in the benefit.

Traveler stories

What our travelers say

Paul

"Warm and inviting."

Harmony Bridge unveiled the marvelous countryside and gave me the chance to take many breathtaking pictures. The people of Yunnan were warm and inviting. We came home with a real appreciation for China's heritage and hospitality.

Janice

"Now, I get it."

I thought they were crazy to move halfway across the world with all my grandkids, but then I visited Yunnan with Harmony Bridge Travel. The people, the landscapes, the magic of stepping into a completely different world. If you have the chance to go, don't hesitate. Just go!

Hunter

"I loved every bite!"

Thanks to Harmony Bridge, we discovered Yunnan's best-kept secrets. As a young kid, climbing Snow Mountain was amazing. The people were so nice and friendly, and the food was the best.

HunterTexas

"No surprises."

Harmony Bridge took into consideration all of our requests of the kind of places that we would be interested in and the amount of walking we would want to do. They were flexible when we needed to rest. Everything was included in the original pricing, and there were no surprises.

NellTexas

"More than a taste of China."

The team at Harmony Bridge arranged for tours from local university professors and students through outdoor markets, where we tasted the plethora of fruits, meats and mushrooms. We also had a meaningful demonstration by local college students on the heritage and presentation of tea.

MichelleTexas

"A side of China I didn't know existed."

The cultural exchanges were meaningful, and our guides provided outstanding food experiences. This trip was life-changing and broadened my perspective of China in a positive way.

CarolMichigan

"They make sure you don't miss a thing."

China is not easy to get around so it was amazing to have a team to take us to experience the best spots while we were there.

MorganIllinois

"We had no idea how welcoming the people would be."

Our personal tour guide helped us to explore hidden villages and engage with local traditions. We hope to return someday and do another tour with Harmony Bridge.

Good questions

Questions travelers ask us

Is this a group tour?

Our guaranteed departures run on set dates but book privately, so your group of 2 to 30 travels on its own with its own guide. It runs even with just 2. We can also build a trip just for your occasion.

How much walking is there?

Both routes include some walking at the sights. Great Wall to Ancient Terraces moves at an easier pace. Tell us what feels right and we'll set the days to match.

Can I book through my travel advisor?

Yes. Your advisor can book any departure with us directly and handle the details for you.

Do I need a visa?

Often not. Both guaranteed departures fit China's 240-hour visa-free transit (in to Beijing, out of Kunming to a third country such as Thailand). For longer or different trips we help you get a tourist visa, typically 10 years, multiple entry, for U.S. citizens. We confirm what applies before you book.

What's included in the price?

All travel inside China, hotels, meals, licensed English-speaking guides, scheduled activities and fees, and gratuities. International airfare, alcohol and extras are not included. We strongly encourage travel insurance and can help you arrange it.

What if my plans change?

Cancel more than 60 days before departure and we refund 100% of what you've paid, less card or bank processing fees. Cancel between 60 and 30 days out and you get 100% of it as credit toward any of our departures within 24 months. Inside 30 days, payments aren't refundable, but you can pass your place to someone else up to 15 days before departure. Travel insurance is the best way to protect yourself inside that window.

Will I be able to get around and communicate?

You'll have licensed English-speaking guides with you, plus a vehicle sized to your group. We handle tickets, menus and the details that make China hard to do alone.

When is the best time to go?

The starred dates are our favorite seasons. June to August is possible on request: it's peak season for travel within China, so it needs its own pricing, and it's Yunnan's rainy season, so we plan around clouds that can hide the snow peaks. We don't run over Lunar New Year.
